Moving Toward America vs Britain

by | May 23, 2020

Often while editing, I’ll spot an American verses British preference thing going on. And it’s always interesting to me who chooses what.

“Toward” is used by most English speakers in North America. “Towards” is used by English speakers nearly everywhere else.

So, while proofing an audio book, written by an American, but narrated by a British bloke (whose voice makes me want to melt), the number one error I’m noting is the addition of the S on the end of toward. Every. Single. Time. It’s. Used.

Isn’t English fun?
